The weather at the start of April wasn’t very favourable for visiting plus part of the park was closed for maintenance for a couple weeks. Nevertheless there was still plenty to see.

Nest building has finished and now the eggs have been laid. It won’t be long before they hatch.

More butterflies were seen in April including the Orange Tip and Speckled Wood.

Damselflies have also appeared.

All photographs were taken in and around Swan Valley Lake Park during the month of April. The park is a small nature reserve in the Blackwater Valley on the outskirts of Sandhurst. There is a huge variety of bird and insect life and if you are lucky you may even see an occassional deer or fox.
